Plenty deep enough but bait has been hit or miss lately. Didn't catch but a few shrimp on Saturday.

Best bet for crabs would be hog bayou. That weir usually has the nicest crabs on the west side of the bay. Idk about shrimp at the Weirs though. I know the trawlers are catching some nice shrimp.

I've seen some good sized offshore boats run in there. Just have to stay to the left of the PIC poles on ur way in.

X2 on not getting off of step in a big boat, but on a high tide you should have a good amount of water to get into the canal. Yall caught them reds in Hell Hole?

Default Crabbing Question

This is the only forum I saw regarding crabbing. I have only been crabbing once...it was Easter of last year. It was way too early in the season and we only caught juveniles, but I had a freaking blast! Well, my girlfriend and I are coming in from San Antonio this weekend to go crabbing. We will be fishing off the shore...won't be out on a boat. We are just going to tie off some turkey necks and toss them out. We are planning right now to head to RWR...some people she knows in Lafayette/New Iberia said that's a good spot. But I wanted to see if there was a better spot to go (that won't add a ton of extra time to the drive). Anyone has a suggestion?
