i disagree its not a hit or miss. u just gotta know the area well.... in other words gotta be a die hard fisherman to catch specks in v bay.

That is why there are so many guides out of cypremort point? Anyone that fishes alot will agree big lake produces trout on a regular basis vs the point.

I find that Big Lake is more consistant, but I catch much bigger fish consistantly in VB. But, only a few months a year. Plus, coming from Lafayette for 15 specks(small specks) is not always worth it. I could be wrong. Anyone who wants to put me on some hogs in Big Lake, I would be willing to listen.

I agree with Montauk. I live in Cecila. VB is much closer but I drive to Big Lake most of the time. Can always scratch some fish when its bad and it is downright awesome when its good!

aw yeah compare the size of specks from big lake to v bay make a biggg differnce cux big lake mostly have small sizes but v bay got some big *** ones and i mean more than several of them and i much prefer catching my 25 per person limit than go almost two hours to lake charles to get a 15 per person limit and by the size of them specks there , im pretty much good where im fishing out of lol. and yes its only for a few months but its damn well worth catching them big *** ones in the few months span closer to home!

well im not a fishing guide and i kno specks is there year round in big lake ofc and i kno they got some big ones there in big lake but im just saying if u fish alot in v bay and learn ur way around im sure u will be shocked to see how many specks tha u can catch in v bay and im sure u wud be happy with the sizes they come in with... it just a little hard to be able to find them but trust me if u keep on trying u will end up knowing where they are and how they move around and such. |

im hoping they would stay around thru the winter depending on the rain we wud get but if we still dont get much rain i will be a happy man cux i think from wha i see lately i beleive the bigger ones will move in more and more if it stay salty long enuf during the winter. a buddy of mine caught him a 7 pounder the other day in weeks bay so tha gotta say something abt the bigger ones coming in. dont u agree???

Yeh that's why this year for the Bikinis or Less tourney they started making everyone fish the point only, because people were going to Big Lake and smoking everyone at the Point.

They all over,I caught some nice ones last year dropped one on the side of the boat that would have went on the wall. Fishing around the hammock by some old cypress stumps. Got hung up and was jerking my rod trying to get it off,as soon as it came loose she nailed it. Also broke a "custom" rod on a 5 pounder that day,but I won't go into details on that.

u dont need to go in detail lol i figured they wud have some big ones around there cux some buddies of mine usually go there and bring in 5 pounders at around like 10 or 15 of them over 5 pounders but like i usually say they move around so just gotta be there on the day they are there.

matter of fact this past saturday i had my all star rod broke in half from popping a cork as soon it went under i jerked my rod and hooked it then in few sec my rod broke in half and my jaw dropped then a min later my cork came back up in a different spot so i dunno if it was either a red or speck tha caught me off gaurd. im just still in shock seeing tha my pole broke in half. i even brought it a few months ago.
