i disagree its not a hit or miss. u just gotta know the area well.... in other words gotta be a die hard fisherman to catch specks in v bay.

That is why there are so many guides out of cypremort point? Anyone that fishes alot will agree big lake produces trout on a regular basis vs the point.

I find that Big Lake is more consistant, but I catch much bigger fish consistantly in VB. But, only a few months a year. Plus, coming from Lafayette for 15 specks(small specks) is not always worth it. I could be wrong. Anyone who wants to put me on some hogs in Big Lake, I would be willing to listen.

I agree with Montauk. I live in Cecila. VB is much closer but I drive to Big Lake most of the time. Can always scratch some fish when its bad and it is downright awesome when its good!

aw yeah compare the size of specks from big lake to v bay make a biggg differnce cux big lake mostly have small sizes but v bay got some big *** ones and i mean more than several of them and i much prefer catching my 25 per person limit than go almost two hours to lake charles to get a 15 per person limit and by the size of them specks there , im pretty much good where im fishing out of lol. and yes its only for a few months but its damn well worth catching them big *** ones in the few months span closer to home!

Big lake has plenty of big trout, gotta know where they live. Not raggin on v bay I like being able to drive 25 mins from my house and catch nice trout. BUT it is a fall time bite only. With the drought we have been in it might go into the winter and spring.

I agree but come spring time with a high atchafalaya river when the bay is about as salty as toledo bend trout leave. Your lucky to catch them at the rigs in the gulf during that time.

I never said vbay does not have big trout. Hell someone caught a 9 pounder in october fishing off their dock in the cove. Two years ago there was a good spring bite but as soon as the river rose it was over.

Yeh that's why this year for the Bikinis or Less tourney they started making everyone fish the point only, because people were going to Big Lake and smoking everyone at the Point.

They all over,I caught some nice ones last year dropped one on the side of the boat that would have went on the wall. Fishing around the hammock by some old cypress stumps. Got hung up and was jerking my rod trying to get it off,as soon as it came loose she nailed it. Also broke a "custom" rod on a 5 pounder that day,but I won't go into details on that.

matter of fact this past saturday i had my all star rod broke in half from popping a cork as soon it went under i jerked my rod and hooked it then in few sec my rod broke in half and my jaw dropped then a min later my cork came back up in a different spot so i dunno if it was either a red or speck tha caught me off gaurd. im just still in shock seeing tha my pole broke in half. i even brought it a few months ago.

Yeah they move alot,if the wind is blowing right I start by hammock lake and drift all the way to the point where the camps start. Every drift get further away from the shore.
