Default Humminbird shoot thru hull transducer

I have been looking at a Humminbird 959 CI HD DI as a replacement for my older Garmin electronics. Humminbird support says you can use their transducer for an In Hull install where the transducer is glued into the interior of the hull. I really don't want to transom mount the transducer for a lot of reasons so the In Hull installation would be great if the performance was good enough. The performance I need would be the ability to get good depth readings when running at speeds up to mid 40's mph. I also want to be able to utilize the down imaging capability, of this unit, when the boat is moving at less than 5 mph.

What I would like to know is if any of you have used a Humminbird HD DI unit with the transducer mounted inside of the hull and if so, would the performance meet my needs.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Charlie
