Default Morgan City

I took a friend and my 4 yr old to my old stomping grounds down in Morgan City on Saturday afternoon. We had a camp near Shell Island for 15 yrs. I've not been down to Point Au Fer in while. I knew the river was low and the river was actually green at the launch. Made the long treck down river and the water actually got cleaner as we went. The water was moving really well in the washout between Eugene Island and point a fur. Hit a few Reefs and watched my 4 year old catch his first speckled trout and white trout all by himself. He ended up catching four over the course of the day. That was a awesome moment. The pictures say it all. This was only his 2nd salt water trip.
We finally made our way over to Locust Bayou and hit the weirs, lots of croakers but only managed one Red. The water was really salty and green all over the bay. If we could have stayed longer probably would have picked up a few more. We did manage to run a ground on the way back, the tide really moved. Overall great trip and with every trip my son improves. Next stop 8 days at Toledo Bend. I hear the white bass are schooling.
