Default Sabine Island WMA

Curious if anyone hunts Sabine Island WMA for ducks? Or the surrounding area on the rivers and bayous. Thinking of doing some scouting out that way during the split so I can hunt the second split, just wanna get an idea of if anyone hunts that way. I want to try and stay as far away from anyone as possible, don't want to screw anyone up, and being as how i'll be scouting during the split, won't really run into anyone. Just trying to be courtious, and don't want to start any **** with anyone during the season if I'm in "their spot".

Theres a few wood ducks out there, usually good for 1 or 2 ducks a hunt, they fly right at shooting time for about 20 mins and then its over

Guy I work with said he used to hut some back waters off the rivers in some of the ponds/lakes. Said there used to be some good mallard shooting to be had. Good luck

I've killed woodies and teal on the island. Limit of 3 woodies almost every trip.

Made one Duck hunt there and then deer hunted the rest of the day.

Killed a 3 person limit of wood ducks and one other duck. When it started getting fairly light, the ducks quit flying. When you hear them flying.....get the gun up and ready or you will not get a shot.

I would suggest you scout going north from Nibblets park. There are a few spots south that could be good also.

Is it real congested with people, Gerald? That would be my only concern north of nibletts. I just don't want to get in a mess of people and have some crap start over a couple of birds.

You go up north by starks and hardly anyone is around. That's the only area I hunt

I live right next to the island and hunt it all the time, mostly for deer, your chances in running into someone else duck hunting out there is very very slim
