Default Help with Flooded Timber Duck Hunting..

anyone know of any puplic areas? A buddy and I are wanting to take our boys on a timber duck hunt over the christmas holidays. Last year we went to the la/ark state line area and didn't do well at all, looking for somewhere different this year.

My buddy grew up in Slidell and says the overall hunting opportunities were much better than the WMA's around here. Not sure about just straight waterfowl but deer, ducks, skirls, turkey, etc. it's a great public hunting area.

Yeah you right, not surprised you remember that adventure, it was interesting to say the least! Hoping to not duplicate that this year!

I've heard Oklahoma has some great public duck hunting if you have a boat and don't mind the drive. Guy told me he had a whole DU designed pothole wma to himself, apparently those okie's don't care for duck hunting. Not sure if it will be good this year with the drought.

Bouef is probably bone dry as low as the ou****a river was Monday when we crossed. Almost no public timber opportunities in La atleast this year with the lack of water. If the Ms river rises your best bet would be to find an outfitter around Greenville Ms that hunts the overflow and book a hunt. Most timber guides are booked a yr in advance and charge astronomical rates because of the novelty. I can set you up with a guide on catahoula that won't tear your eyeballs out.
