Default Vbay 10/5/14

Took out the young nephews yesterday. They're too young to chase birds or even really to troll, so we had to pick seven or eight spots and sit there to fish. Absolutely nothing doing around Cypremort. Fought the crazy wind across the bay to the pass to just find cats. The kids were too little to really enjoy looking for reds, so we just called it a day. I know people are skeptical on here, so take a look at my haul in the photo.

Anybody do any better yesterday?

I fished in Cameron Prairie Refuge yesterday, great looking flats with clear water and tons of shrimp that have been covered with hungry redfish lately had scarcely any, and the ones that were there were pretty tight lipped. Only one was willing to eat a fly. I think the changing weather had them off. In most reports I've read from around the state for Sat and Sun people struggled. Took a good beating running my Carolina Skiff back to Hebert's in the afternoon after the wind turned out of the south.

The weather was horrible on VBay. No luck over here just a bunch of hard heads and sun burns!

Stayed at state park cabin. Fished Fri all day, Sat afternoon-evening, and Sunday early morning - only fish caught (other than small freshwater cats ) were in mouth of shark bayou (out of the wind) ...... white trout - croaker mix with 1 flounder and small drum. All on bottom with shrimp and slow /timid bite.
