Default Offshore Freshwater City Advice

Thinking about heading offshore out of Freshwater City or Rollover on Sunday morning in my 22 Pathfinder. New to offshore fishing in my boat. Looking for some advice on which platforms to start looking for snapper at. Also where do you guys get your bait when fishing out of there. Thanks for the help in advance....

You don't need live bait for snapper. Just menhaden or cigar minners. Start lookin for fish in 60+ feet of water. Circle the rigs and see what side da fish are on

Start around 35-40 miles due south... sometimes you have to jump around a little... Look for big blotches on your fishfinder and drop to that depth... Also look for Ling to come up and be ready with something to pitch to them. If you see any trash or grass on your way out stop and investigate, there's always something lurking around.

You can buy frozen bait at gulfway in Kaplan it's on the way to both those launches. I think they open at 4 but I am not 100% on that 5 at the latest though.

Also bring a cutting board and knife or a pair of heavy duty kitchen shears to cut the bait.

We have also done well with big hair jigs and some type of scented Grub as a trailer.

We found em a couple weeks ago around East Cameron 109 in about 63 or 64 feet.

Gulfway opens at 4a. They've got good sausage biscuits and free coffee.
