Default Sabine 8/30 Quick Report

Hit the LA Point yesterday AM and fished the 1st/2nd cuts off the beach. Managed to catch over 40 "LA keepers" but only one TX keeper. Fish were chasing shrimp fast and furious and wanted retrieve to match - all fish fell to either topwater, strike pro cranks, or poppin corks in 2 -5 foot of water. Plenty of sharks chasing anything and everything.

Got tired of dinks and tried to north end of the lake. No birds, no bait, no fish. Looked like a ghost town. Water is about 90 degrees, so I guess the fish are either deeper or south - or in Big Lake :-) Saw some guide postings saying that they were catching reds/flounder deep in the ship channel in 25-30ft of water...

The water surface temps in Big Lake were between 86 and 89 degrees a couple days ago.
We have friends who live on Pleasure Island who said they are only catching reds right now in the Sabine Lake. Not much else. He is hitting the dock lights and platforms.
We went there Sat. and the water in the Sabine was pretty dang clear. The water in the Yacht Club area was nice too.
