Default Getting a LA record fish certified

My son caught what will rank as a top 10 LA gafftopsail catfish at the jetties yesterday and he wants to jump through the hoops to get it certified even though he may only be 5-7th in the record books. We're in the LC area. Any suggestions on how to find/contact a local wildlife biologist over the holiday weekend, or will we have to wait until Tuesday when the LC Field Office on Lakeshore opens up? And what do the rules really mean when they specify that the scale must be certified by the LA Dept of Agriculture? If one of the Star scales is available, would this count? Thanks!

Make sure you ask to see the certification on the scale you use. It needs to be within 1 year of the day you use it. I ran into a snag getting my daughters lake record with certification dates. But I'm sure any STAR scale would suffice

Almost passed through cal point yesterday to use their bait scale to weight my fish. If I believe correctly their scale is certified by usda...Usually there is a sticker or something on or near the scale.
