Be advised BL is shallow!! there is a lot of equipment in the water, as well the north and south sides are separated by an above water pipe line

Great info Marty ...
I was in there last week but didn't run across the signs you have circled. I'll take notice next trip. I usually enter the same way you are due to launching at Calc. Point So apparently I passed a couple on the way in and missed them. From looking at the maps I would assume we safe "legal" to fish the purple areas and the signs are faced inward to stop traffic from going outward from there ? Or getting out of the ditch on the west side until in Black Lake itself ? |

Looks like the green path is the salt ditch and the path marked "Ditch" on Sonris map is something different. Am I mistaken? This would mean that the marsh on both sides of green path (Salt Ditch) are privately owned.

green path and "ditch" (salt ditch) are the same I just didn't run the green line all the way up to the ICW. And you are correct both sides of the salt ditch are private. |

That place looks like Mad Max's death trap in some areas. That's why I was enquiring about running it. Not to mention the not knowing what areas are legal or not to fish ...

Just make sure u have a cell phone so when you lose your lower unit u can make a call for help !!
High tides are worst than low tides as it hides more pilings

There are actually a lot of bad spots in there, I've seen pilings out the water directly where 90% of boats run through there....also seen guys running some unusual paths on the way back towards the salt ditch that had me clenching my jaw hoping I wouldn't have to rescue anyone. Like w said high tides are no good for black lake you will find yourself in a ****uation real quick if you don't know where you're going.

You gotta be careful in those Epic's. I heard that they have a pretty thin hull. I'm kidding so no one please get your panties in a wad over that comment. I was actually considering one of those before I bought my Blue Wave. I just got a hell of a deal on it.
