One wire on one side, the other on the other side. 12 volt systems don't care whick side ya put em to. Depending on the number of lights, you may wanna use a junction block in order to cut down on wire clutter.

Does it matter what side you back light is on??

Not real sure on that. Seems like I've seen most of em kinda centered up. Would not work well with a tiller though.

Our bass boat has it on the back corner, was going to stick it on back left corner, since my battery is on left side of rig. |

From center of boat back and must be 1' higher than the tallest point on the boat. Its simple wiring if ya like I can email ya a drawing.

Here are a few pictures of how I install a lighting system on my 12' Godevil boat.
I installed all wiring in plastic "conduit" to prevent the wires from being cut on sharp metal edges. Note the on/off switch in the picture that showes the wires that connect to the batter [batteries not included]. The Bow light is mounted on a custom built block of wood just behind the front of the boat ....to prevent it from breaking when I hit something. I use rubber grommets to protect the wires..... see bow picture. Note where I store the Stern light in the back of the boat. Fuse.....you must install a fuse [~ 5 to 20 amp is good] on the hot [plus] wire. If you don't have a fuse....when [not if] the wires shorts it will burn up all the rubber insulation on the wiring. Recommend you use a fairly heavy wire, say # 12 gauge multi strand not a single strand......A small wire will work ok.....but a larger wire will not get broken and last a long time. |
