Default Taurus pt-111 millineum 9mm

Looking to purchase a compact 9mm. Saw the Taurus PT-111 at Academy. A buddy of mine say it is a good handgun. Internet reviews are mixed. Any suggestion?

I'm a glock and springfield man, shot many other handguns and can't get away from either, the quality and dependability is better than any other mass produced handgun, a good 1911 is hard to beat too!

Don't buy Taurus for protection! Just don't buy a Taurus.

Do you plan to Conceal Carry? Best advice is to go out and shoot as many guns as you can before you buy something. I have 9mm's from Springfield, S&W, Keltec, and STI. The most fun gun is a STI 1911 9mm, shoots like a dream, but the gun I carry daily to protect my self is a M&P9 pro, it is a full size pistol and I am able to conceal it easily, but I make my own holsters so I was able to put the gun exactly where I wanted it. No reason you can't carry the gun you shoot best, sometimes I carry my XD9sc but I would never dream of trying to carry my XDM9 in a concealed carry situation, besides I shoot my M&P better.

I had a Taurus and it was decent at best but now I have a Kel-tec 9mm that I really like for carry due to size.

Take a look at Ruger's SR9c. I bought both it and their LC9 but soley carry the SR9c now. Great shooting compact that still holds 10+1

I bought one for my wife years ago, she likes it ....

For me, its a bit too small for my paws but I do throw it in my boat bag from time to time...

I would suggest you expand your search beyond Academy. I don't know of any dealers in New Iberia, but IMO is just as important to have a good FFL as it is to have a good doctor, Dentist, etc.

Check out the ruger lc9 for a 9mm or the glock 27 for a 40 CAL for compacts.....

BTW, if you are looking for a full size look at the Glock 22 which is a 40cal. I have one I love it.
