Who uses a boat cover regulary and what brand works best?

I currently have a WindStorm boat cover on my boat, and about a month into using this cover I started to have issues. The cover started to rip in the aft corners, and then at the seams. this cover also started to mold on the inside as well. I called about the warranty, and they said that the issues are not covered under warranty but they would gladly give me a 15% discount with the purchase of a new cover .

Has anyone had any good luck with their boat cover, and if so, can you give me some advise for my next purchase?

I need it for regular use, and also for towing.

I use the cheap one form academy but if your in the sun Im sure it would not last long

My boat stays parked in the sun... so I have to keep her covered and a good coat of wax on her at all times.

latravcha... I like the ttop covers, but do not have a ttop on my boat. Have you ever trailered your boat with the cover on it? I travel a lot.

I bought a Hurricane cover from Bass Pro for my center console when it was new, about $400 and ran 3/4 in. PVC from bow to stern to make a teepee under it. Trailered 1 time with it - 2 hrs. on the highway, never again, center console catches too much wind its gonna tear your cover up. I also started to notice my gel coat below the cover line was starting to degrade slightly. Man if you could even get a cheap Carolina style metal cover with sides to keep the sun off along with your boat cover.

It is going to be hard to find a cover that trailers well.
Personally I dont like to trailer with a cover. Did it once with a bass boat I had when I got where I was going the fiberglass was scuffed up from the cover rubbing.

I never thought about the rubbing on the side of the BOAT while trailering... Thanks for that helpful piece of information.

I keep a good coat of wax on the boat to prevent as much as I can from the sun.

Yea... I live on NAS JRB Belle Chasse, and I am assigned a parking spot. You would think my BOAT would be safe... But the damn kids in the neighborhood stepped on my starboard side plainer.

I use a carver custom boat cover. they are designed for your specific hull. cover comes with a $500 price tag, but in my opinion is worth it. had mine a couple years now; it stays in the sun and there are no signs of tearing or sagging. still works as well as the first time I put it on my boat. easy to get on and off. takes me a little more than 5 minutes by myself.

Well. Those damn cats got to my cover and ripped it to shreds. I had to go to Colorado (where those dope smokers hang out) for a week and came back to a Hugh hole in my cover. When I went to look at it, you could see the claw marks going up the cover where they tried to climb up it.

I hope they like antifreeze:-)
