Default New Stand

Me, my brother and some buddies went up to the camp this past weekend to build a new box stand. Turned in to a bigger project than I expected but turned out great. Made a decision to construct it out of metal tubing instead of wood so it would last longer and the welding took more time than we thought. Still had a great time building it though! Any weekend at the camp, even if it is working really hard in the hot summer is better than being at work.

Still have some minor work to do on it:
  • Anchor stand to nearby trees and maybe a wire in middle down to corkscrew on ground
  • brown and green spraypaint to break up pattern
  • add some other camo to it - maybe some leafy material or some burlap
  • construct some kind of windows for it - still working on best ideas for this...if you have any, let me know.
The stand has been nicknamed "Who Dat" because we found the new spot that we built it for while scouting not long after the Saints won the superbowl and the name just stuck. The stand turned out to be a little bigger than was first planned so we made up an acronym for the stand.

WHODAT = Wicked-Huge Official Deer Acquisition Treehouse

Being in the woods gave me the fever. I am ready for the season to start. All we need is a little rain and I will be up there in Sept to plant plots. It was so dry that we couldn't follow to close to each other on the trails or you would be eating dust. We hunt in Desoto Parish.

Very very nice, I put one up this weekend as well but did not turn out very nice. We dropped it 3 times before finally getting it up. The thing is 2 days old and looks like is has been in the weather for 15 years and run over by a bull dozer it is so busted up, lol.

It does take long to weld them together but it is strong and will last long. I built mine at my house and trailered it to my lease. It cant never be too big if you have kids that hunt with you. Looks great dude!!!!

We thought about using aluminum, but decided to use hardyback instead. We just primed and painted it to make it last longer. Hardyback is pretty cool stuff and lasts for a while, and is thin which was a plus.
