Wait for a big ol work boat to go through the pass from Intracoastal! Follow her 100 yards behind and use your GPS tracking. Return using that tracking!

Well we went to the reefs south of Marsh Island. Pavy, Croix, and Diamond. Only caught 3 gafftops. Those suckers are nasty. Caught a big one on a Rattletrap....it jut kind of laid there at first then started pulling drag when it got close to the boat. I was hoping for a red when he started pulling but no dice.

We went through the pass at high tide around 7:30. When we came back through around 1:30 the tide had fallen and wow you could pull up to some of those exposed shoals and set out a beach blanket if you wanted to. Very close to the green markers (west side of the pass). I took Dink's advice and hugged the red markers both ways and had no problems other than an engine stall on the way in.

I was out there today. Started off at T-Butte around 6:30. Caught one trout. Left at 8:30 went to Diamond reef. First cast my budy hooks a 3+ lb trout and breaks his line trying to flip it in the boat (dummy). I got pumped then no more bites. My dad was killing the gafftops with dead shrimp. Managed 2 trout and a flounder all day. Weather, water, and salinity was good. The fish forgot to eat.

My kids like gafftop more than they like redfish. I am never disappointed to put a 3-6 lb gafftop in the boat.

Well I am still bad enough at fishing that anything tugging on the line makes for a good day!
