Jury duty

Does anyone know if you get paid for attending jury duty by the city? IMO you should get some kind of compensation from the city in the event your employer wouldn't pay you for the missed day(s) at work..

longsidelandry 05-05-2010 11:14 AM

They might give you $25

Raymond 05-05-2010 11:15 AM

I think it is $40.00 per day plus meals. In Laf they used to feedem at T-Coons downtown but I have no clue now. Make sure you bring plenty of reading material, heard it is boring going through the selection process.
Let us know if you are lucky enough to get picked for the jury and don't spend all that money in one place.

HAHA, thanks. If thats the case ill be sure to put on quite a show at the selection interview.

That would be great, hopefully i get that lucky. I guess my voting address is still in Opelousas because thats where the order came from. I can just about imagine the ghetto azz case that I would have to sit through.

If you can find out the name of someone involved just say you know that person and ya'll have been friends forever...

Raymond 05-05-2010 11:26 AM

Is it state or Fed?
I used to think that way until the O J trial but now I would do my best to get on the jury. I could use my superior powers of persuassion to influence da Jery into a conviction of Urangelo.;)

Its a state case. You might be right. Im on salary so I might as well try to get picked. It would be a day out of the office and the case may be interesting..

Had a guy that did that when I went........The Judge was not to impressed!!!!!!! He ripped him a new one in front of everyone! If I remember right I think he fined him also.

youmyboyblue 05-05-2010 02:43 PM

i believe there is a law that requires your employer to pay while out on jury duty.

Asterisk-Rich 05-05-2010 03:01 PM
