fuel stabilizer

i recently started using fuel stabilized in my boat tank. this past weekend i could only run 5200 rpms . could this be due to the stabilizer doing something to the gas?

The fuel treatment will not cause a drop in rpms. More than likely you have a clogged fuel line or filter. Most fuel treatments have chemicals in them to clean injecters and carbon buildup. You might have had some trash built up in a fuel line or filter and the treatment broke it apart. Do you have a water separator filter? What type of fuel treatment did you use?

I had problems with my bulb staying hard this weekend. I'm hoping it is just my filter needing to be changed.

I use Ring Free and that's it. Yamaha recommended using it.
I had a 200 Mercury for almost 14 years and never added anything, except Sea Foam once a year. It never hic-uped, every. It cleaned the rings out like Ring Free, but it did it once a year instead of with every tank.
I still use Sea Foam once a year. If it worked for 14 years, why stop using it.
But I don't let my boat sit up for a long time. I use it at least once a month.
Best thing to do is leave the tank full, unless you use her a lot.
