My son and I headed out of vermillion bay, looking for some trout this morning. We headed out through the pass and hit a few various platforms. We ended the day around 1 pm with 31 trout all caught on various plastics. On the way in we passed by tete bute, water wasnt all that, pass was dirty, started getting pretty again around dry reef, and the cove was really nice. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend and gets a chance to get on some fish before everything gets shut down.

Nice job man, it's awesome to see some trout getting pulled out of there!

speck-chaser 05-26-2010 10:37 PM

yeah, wish it would have lasted longer, but the tides messed with us today. still had a blast though

nice mess of fish there... i really wanted to get out there before it got shut down again... how far out did you go?

speck-chaser 05-26-2010 10:52 PM

not too far, mainly around tiger shoal area ,we did head further west, and the water got much better, but the tide was really ripping down there.

Nice trout!! Good thing you went today, they shut us down again, closed at midnight tonight. They said there is some oil on the east end of marsh island. South point to freshwater bayou is shut down once again, sucks. Did you see any oil out there?

speck-chaser 05-26-2010 11:02 PM

nope,no earl,just a few bait slicks.lol

Montauk17 05-26-2010 11:03 PM

I dont understand why they shut it down...everyone I talked to did not see a drop of oil.

speck-chaser 05-26-2010 11:04 PM

I think they do it to make themselves feel powerful.

Asterisk-Rich 05-26-2010 11:09 PM

water was prettier than that at the same location last week. That east wind the past couple of days has been pushing that dirty water from calumet a little further over. Alittle further west it got really green.

gotta love that trout green water!!

I'm pissed about closing the pass again though. I was planning on fishing some outside reefs and rigs this weekend.

speck-chaser 05-27-2010 08:25 AM

you should be able to go through the pass, just dont fish the off limit areas, but the rigs should be further out than that.

Montauk17 05-27-2010 08:46 AM

I just talked to a wildlife agent at work,he said they are starting to lay boom today at marsh island. I forgot to ask if they are running boom across the pass.

speck-chaser 05-27-2010 08:50 AM

I cant imagine them running booms across the pass with all of the big boats that have to go through there, but maybe they will.
