Them water moccosins are out right now.. Dont let your guard down!!

Killed about 6 yesterday. This one was one of the biggest ones i have ever seen. Swallowed my whole live bream, and got caught on my limb line..

It's Stuff Like That

Made me quit fishing fresh water. A while back , me and my Dad were fishing Sacalait and we were close to a Cypress tree , and my Dad stood up in the front of the boat and I was in the back, well a damn water moccasin fell:eek: , luckily in the middle of the boat , it was a open skiff. He had the paddle and he hit that thing a million times.I hurried and grabbed it, and threw it overboard.Phew! that's when I said never again.:shaking:lol talk about stink! them things got a musk gland that puts out a putrid smell. you usually can smell them before you see 'em, but not all the time.

blackmamba 05-29-2010 09:14 PM

Damn son... Caught any fish?

FF_T_Warren 05-29-2010 09:24 PM

we found a big snake coiled up behind a tarp by the back door today. wasn't as big as that one but about 1 1/4"-1 1/2" around and 2-3ft. idk what it was. looked like a water snake but not sure

flyphisher 05-30-2010 12:51 AM

Hate to bust yer bubble, tut those aren't water moccassin pics. that one snake is way to long, and the heads don't match.

Big Flounder 05-30-2010 12:57 AM

A good snake is a dead snake!!!

flyphisher 05-30-2010 01:01 AM

upon review, you killed a bunch of harmless water snakes.

I was thinking water snake but wasn't sure. I caught a good number of them in crawfish traps last year though, whatever they are!

Agreed

Rita removed all snakes from the Cameron and Creole area, but they are starting to come back. First 3 years after Rita, I saw only 1 Congo Moc. in our marsh. So far this year, I have seen a dozen or so.
That looks like a water snake to me too. But I don't like them either.

simplepeddler 05-30-2010 10:58 AM

Friend of my wife's was bitten a couple weeks ago in her back yard.
Seems a little rattler was in a hanging basket on the back porch!!!

Very afraid on snakes....

Zachary Boy 05-30-2010 11:12 AM

My friend at Lake Mary kept his Crocs by the back door so he wouldn't track mud in his R/V. And you know where this is going. He stuck his foot in the shoe to be greeted by a ground rattler 5 or 6" long. Took a hit to his big toe and ended up at Lane Memorial Hospital.

FF_T_Warren 05-30-2010 11:16 AM

The scary part of that story is Lane memorial hospital

I agree... I dont know what i was thinking... Limblines + Beer = ummm i dunno!!!....

Now this is a water moccasin

southern151 05-30-2010 12:43 PM

Yep! That's what I know as a moccasin! I know the beer aspect as well! Lol! Damn things scare the crap out ya when they start hittin the side of a crawfish trap!

On the flipside, drown em and they make great crawfish bait!!

CatDaddy 05-30-2010 01:16 PM
