more laws to push us

Now that several states have pushed a ban on texting and using cell apps while in a vehicle!
I agree that roads are safer without someone on the phone but that is your choice to make . Cells phones are no more dangerous as driving with a tank full of gas,70mph on rubber tires, having bad health or just listing to the radio!! Things are getting out of hand with laws and new rules!!!
Ban cell phones but let's over populate our prisons with illegals

flyphisher 05-31-2010 11:37 AM

Yep, there are already laws on the books for distracted driving.

This is possibly the dumbest post you have ever made. It is your choice to make if it would only kill you. When i am driving my 3 yr old and 1 old yr old around keep your eyes on the road and your azz off the phone.

Its my choice to text or talk as I want ...when I want and to who I want!!! That's not going to change in my vehicle

Are you going to "Choose" who you are going to crash you truck into and maybe kill them.

Don't get me started on this topic. Driving safely is hard enough.....without the distractions.

Right b/c you are above the law and live by the beat of your own drum. It seems as if you do things simply out of spite. Not surprised.. Screw the risk of injurying others huh?!?

i agree. You would think after his post the other day showing the horrific accident he was in that he would be wise enough to take all measures of safety.

If I felt I was putting myself or someone else in danger I would not do that...I know there are times I can safety use my cell driving... My point is ...you have that right to make the call...if its safe or not safe...I don't need a law to tell me this.... I don't go around making it unsafe...I know that I can talk and drive safely in some cases

Asterisk-Rich 05-31-2010 12:35 PM

I got a ticket the other day for driving while on my cell

youmyboyblue 05-31-2010 12:38 PM

The talking on a cell is no where near the danger of texting IMO. I drive the causeway bridge 5 times a week. I can't tell you how many people are swerving b/c they are texting, emailing, putting on make up, READING THE FREAKING NEWSPAPER!!! And peopkle wonder why several cars a year drive off the bridge.

ShadMan 05-31-2010 12:49 PM

No it's not. In fact, it's not even your choice to drive. The government has chosen to allow you to drive on its roads. It's a privilege, not a right. Keep your eyes on the road and off your phone, or stay at home. I hope they start taking people's drivers licenses away for driving distracted.

Back in the late 80's I drove a Pepsi truck. I spent a few years driving routes on the north shore from the warehouse in Harahan. I've seen some stuff looking down into cars from a big truck. I've seen people reading the newspaper a lot.

But twice what I saw disturbed me.........................................

I was going north on the Causeway about 6am on a Saturday, at about mile marker 3, in my mirror I could see a car coming up the left lane slowly over taking me. As the car passed I looked down, and the guy was JERKING OFF!!!! He musta got blue balls or something from his date of the night before.

2nd time, I'm driving from Slidell to Harahan, about 3pm or so. I'm in the right lane on I-10, and when this car overtaking me on the left passed by, I looked down and wouldn't ya know it!! Another dude jerking off!!

But, by far the most disturbing thing ever to happen to me happened at the old rest area between Slidell and Pearl River on I-59. I had to crap real bad, I mean right now, or you're dumping in your pants. I pulled into the rest area and headed for the head. I'm sitting on the can, and there is slight noise and movement outside the stall. I get this creepy feeling, and look over thru the crack in the door. THERE I SEE A GUY ABOUT 3 FEET FROM THE STALL LOOKING THROUGH THE CRACK AND JERKING OFF!!!! I don't really remember the entire tirade I through, but it was full of m's and f's and stuff. The guy went running the hell out of there.

No ! Driving is a priviledge awarded to you by the state of louisiana IT IS NOT A RIGHT!!! So you have no rights while operating a motor vehicle in the state of louisiana other than those afforded you by the constitution of the United states Of America.
And the last time i read the constitution .No where does it mention cell phones.

Well said, they need to take their licenses away for driving distracted. Teach them a lesson before they kill innocent people.

It's been an interesting life. As subjects pop up, I'll share my experiences, like the summer of 1983, I was 17, and my stepdad's 16 y/o niece spent the summer at our house...........................................
