Almost had my boat for sale!

Walked in the house from work, my wife says my boat stinks I need to clean it. I told her I cleaned it this weekend after fishing. I went outside, took the cover off and the smell hit me. I climbed in opened the fish box and saw a trout at the very back of the fish box I accidentally left. Maggats everywhere, I started gagging and thought of selling it as is. 2 Gallons of bleach and 1 hour scrubbing later I think the smell is gone.

eek, we forgot bait in ours one time and it was nasty smelling, but no maggots so not quite as bad

I cleaned some fish this weekend and put the head and guts in my ice chest, which I was going to dump, but forgot til yesterday when my ice chest fell over in the back of my truck I was gagging after I hopped out and smelled what had been brewing in the heat!

had a trash bag full of trout heads this past monday. trash is supposed to pass on tuesday so i threw them in the trash can and put it at the street. usually, i will go dump them but since i knew the trash men were passing the next morning i threw them in there. well they didnt show up till wed afternoon. My garbage can was full of maggots. it was horrible. I cleaned the can out gagging the whole time and it still smells turrible!

I just went outside and can still smell it. I dumped more bleach and leaving the top open for the night. I have been considering using the fish box for storage and just using an ice chest well this just made up my mind. Will buy an ice chest before this weekend and strap in under my seat. Screw this. If the smell is there in the morning the boat is for sale!

Once I found a small ice chest in a ditch. I stopped and it was in good condition.....execpt a bad smell. I cleaned it up, but still had an odor.

I weighted it down in big bucket and soaked it in clorax and checked it every week or so. Smell never went away so I threw it a way a couple of months later.

Bet you'll always check that fish box more times than once huh? That's a nasty smell. It'll be burned into your brain forever

I, and a buddy of mine thought his dad had cleaned a few bass and goggle eye we had caught at henderson back in high school. as we got the boat ready for the next trip to calcasieu river I asked him about the fish, he said I'm sure my dad cleaned them, WRONG,FLIPIN OMG, I swear I saw fumes come out of the ice chest, the goggle eye were now 1lb and the bass were 3lb's.
