OT: Anyone ever take someone to small claims court?

Lol...had a guy take me for driving a combine in his yard...he wanted 500 dollars damage but he gave me permission to cross there... Needless to say I got an attorney and he ended up paying for that,,,judge threw it out after the dummy told him that he gave me the right to cross.... It only made some small cleat marks!!! Lol

You wouldn't wanna touch this person. You could catch somethin that comet won't take off.

I had the neighbor across the street from me hire a man to cut her grass. While he was cutting the grass he hit a rock that ruined my front door. He told me he was going to pay and then reneged. Police told me it was an act of god. I said to them god isn't stupid and doesn't mow with the guard up on his lawnmower. I tried to take him to small claims court but a lawyer friend of mine told me if I was to win in small claims court I was responsible for getting the money out of him. I cornered him one day and was getting ready to go to jail when my dog got loose out of the house and proceeded to run in the road and all I saw of him after that was him running as fast as he could. Morel of the story is the law is for the crooks and if anyone ever breaks anything of mine again while mowing they will pay for it on the spot in one way or another.

if you go to court, let us know how it goes. I got a guy wrote me a bad 840.00 check. Havent been able to get a "hold" to him yet.

thats why people shouldn't accept checks especially for high $ amounts, I rather give someone a cashiers check, money order or cash, rather than my bank checking number with my Id info on it. plus I hate it when someone holds on to a check for more than a week and decides to cash it 6 weeks later!

believe me,I rather cash too,but not everyone that buys from me pays in cash.:cry: This was a contractor that had bought from me a few times before.

I had to take a company that I do A/C work for in Sulphur to small claims court last year. It cost $120.00 to file. They can't force them to pay, but they will put a lean on their arse for $20.00 more. That crooked biatch, won't be able to sell or buy any big items without paying me for 10 years. If she doesn't try to buy or sell in ten years you can continue another 10 years for $20.00 more. I will shell out $20.00 every 10 years until I die. I hate crooks!

I had a builder in this area got 'into me' for about $7000. He wouldn't return phone calls and ducked and dodged me for about a month. He had made the mistake of telling me where he attended church. I finally caught up with him in his chuch parking lot one sunday morning. I told him if he didn't pay up ,I was gonna tell all his church friends what a no good asterick he was. He wrote me a check on the spot...

You need to contact the District Atty in your Parish. They can nail his azz for writing a bad check. You may have to hound them, but it will get you paid. Or, when we get a check here at work, we run it through the machine, and it clears immediately, just like cash.
