You can get a fiberglass repair kit at Walmart for ~ $10. Read the instrutctions.

Sand down the spot to be repaired. If you are "patching" a hole you may want to use something as "backing" [paper ??] that you can remove after the fiberglass is installed. You don't have to be real concerned how the repair looks......just sand it down when finished and it will look good. Don't breath the dust while sanding....it is bad for your lungs.

Cut the cloth to the size you need and then mix up a small batch of resin. It will harden in ~ 2 minutes so you don't have a lot of time to get it put on. The resin can be applied to the boat and then cover the area with the cloth and then apply the rest of the resin that you mixed up. Two or 3 layer of cloth should be enough to make the repair. Add just some resin for the final layer to kind of smooth out the repair.

Or you can dip the cloth into the resin and then put it on the spot you are repairing. If your repair spot is small and "easy" to cover with the cloth....you might be able to apply 2 layer of cloth with each batch of resin that you mix.

Let the first layer dry and repeat until it looks to be the right thickness. You may have to apply a layer on both sides [inside and outside] to get it repaired and look better.

It can be painted after you get it all sanded to look good.

Eman, I doubt glass is the way to go since these boats are plastic. It is difficult to get a good bond due to the oily nature of all plastics. I would suggest finding someone with a plastic welder to make the patch.

I know a company with a pvc welder if you wanted to go that route. I'm not sure if they would do it or not. I used to work there but my boss who I know would do it, doesnt work there anymore. I could give you their name if you decide you want to try it

Bring to me. My shop is in Prairieville and we do fiberglass repair. There are two types of fiberglass out there and they don't mix! We can identify what the material is for you and make the repair. I'll be able to tell you exactly what it will cost you upon seeing it. I'll darn sure treat you and any other Salty Cajun very fair on rates also.

serious, ive used them to repair abs plastic gas tanks. they are smiliar to a large soldering iron , it uses heated air to melt the plastic with a plastic welding rod. you have to have a air source, such as a compressor to use it

you can also get a cheaper version at harbor freight for around 30 bucks
