Shells shot and types for ducks
Just wondering what most of the duck hunters shoot......
I mostly hunt rice fields so during teal season I shoot 3" 1-1/4oz # 4 shot. I used to shoot same lenght and oz in #6 but Estates quit making shells a few years ago. They were great for teal. Early in Big Duck season I shoot the same shells listed above in #3 and 4 shot. Later in the year I use 3-1/2", 1-3/8" oz #2 or #3 especially since we get some geese and the duck get decoy shy. I mostly use RIO, Winchester Xpert or Kents...... |
3" #3's all day long!!!

Late season, 3" #2's. |

I only get 27yds with BC |
I use the winchester xpert #3 3" I bought some win drylok which are more expensive, only diff. is there is a different wad that keeps powder and primer dry if the loads get wet. I don't know if its worth the $5 extra. I'm thinking about buying a new shotgun, mine is getting old and I need a new choke, I really want either a real good semi-auto or a double barrel.
