BOy this country is in bad shape. Common frikin sense tells you that the plastic lock was in fact a lock, meaning this valve is closed by the utility company. Stupidity these days baffles the hell out of me.

A seal on a gas meter should be just like a seal on an elect. meter.
You break it, you are at fault.

Yes but who is going to take care of .......Aniqua, Baniqua, Caniqua, Daniqua, ?, Faniqua, Ganiqua, Haniqua, Iniqua, Janiqua??

Hopefully CenterPoint will appeal the verdict. They had to know the out come of a trial in Little Africa. Maybe they can use the fact that there weren't any Non Baboons on da jery defence??

Read about this yesterday. Had I known you could sue people for your own stupidity years back, I could have been well retired by now!

I am amazed that this suit was even allowed to court!...and pissed!

Nothing surprises me in Opelousas. Remember uncle Obama is president. Why doesn't the gas company sue them for stealing their gas? Oh yeah the line had a plastic lock on it but it isn't recognized by the government. *** is wrong with our country I feel we need to cull some people from our gene pool. Stupidity is breeding stupidity.

Same old same old. Lawyer gets rich, gas goes up and all of OUR insurance goes up. Welcome to the "sue-me" state. I would love to see the make-up of that jury.

gas company was held 50% liable and never prosecuted anyone who stole gas from them! sounds like the Gas Company should have argued that the people knowingly was stealing from them and blew themselves up in the process! You would think a gas company would have a sufficient legal team that would help them prevent loss of product and loss of profit from civil liabilities. Loss prevention is important to any company and goes far beyond the retail market.

I think some good Lawyers could prove that the Gas company followed all industry wide "standard practices" by installing that seal and get this amount greatly reduced.

The gas company should be > 10% at fault.

It could be that "WE" don't know all the facts of this case.

If the gas company had counter sued, the other side would have played the race card. The gas company more than likely didn't retaliate in fear of being labeled racist. It's called Negrophilia, and there is a book all about it written by Erik Rush.
