Saw the salinity is up 5 parts per thousand from the usual 1.5. Hope it can keep on rising then maybe we can get on some good trout finally!!

That has been VB problem the last 3-4 years. Trout fishing has not really been good at all in the bay in about 4 years with the fresh water. 4 years ago was awesome in the bay and there was rarely a need to go out of the pass esp. if you just wanted to catch white trout for fun.

yep.. stays pretty low. I've limited out there though before whenever it has read 1.6ppt and even lower i've caught decently.

lol yea I wish it could wait. If I don't start building before the end of September the cost of my house could go up if the price of materials has gone up.

LaAngler 08-02-2010 03:47 PM

they say spawning trout are very sensitive to freshwater also, i guess this means vbay trout must spawn offshore in the spring?

i don't think v bay trout exist in the spring.. the water is probably too fresh for them 20 miles out if the river is high

BayBolt23 08-02-2010 04:14 PM

Passed through the bay coming in from fishing offshore last friday and the water looked like poo. Hope it clears up soon or they open up offshore fishing.

with all this talk about not being able to find the oil, you would think they'd open up the federal waters! I went 90 miles out yesterday out of freshwater city and we didn't see any oil. I know we are far from the leak, but just saying, you know

This spring was a different story. They had a run of big trout in the bay this year,I caught the end of the bite but know of several nice ones being caught. Glad the salt is coming up,now it gets hot like dragon tang outside. :pissed:
