Speeding in LA

Received an email earlier today......FYI

Speeding in LA

Monday, August 2, 2010 1:08 PM

"As many of you know that I work for the Arc of ST. Charles and we have STATE vehicles....... Well we just received notice from the State that effective August 1st, the Louisiana State Troopers will start issuing tickets to anyone for traveling 5 miles over the speed limit....... They have a quota of 900,000 tickets in the first 30 days........ 10 miles over the speed limit is no longer.......... Guess with all the state budget cuts, they have to collect money some kind of way........ Watch your speed!"

Ray 08-05-2010 06:13 PM

I call b.s. on this. In one month troopers would have to write roughly 29000 tickets a day, they do not have the man power to do this. example, if one trooper writing tickets managed to write 5 tickets an hour for his 12 hour shift that would be 60 tickets. You would need 483 troopers writing a ticket every 12 minutes to make this possible.

Very good point Swamp

supercajun 08-05-2010 08:10 PM

i understand the law is the law but 95% of people getting pulled over are trying to get to work!! do the super troopers have nothing better else to do but harass people trying to make a living. with all the drugs theft going on around you think they could focus on something better than 5 over the speed limit. maybe they just dont have the balls to do something about it and rather deal with traffic violations

ShadMan 08-05-2010 08:11 PM

That's always been the way it is when you have Texas plates in LA. :)

Most Houston area cops give 15mph. If you drive the speed limit around here you get killed. ;)

Houston has more people than Louisiana.

They tried to sneak in a $15 increase in the cost of a drivers license and the legislature canned it. This is the way to make up the lost funds.

anyone have a link on this new speed enforcement? I googled it but no dice...
