Fourchon Reds on the Fly!
Went down to Fourchon yesterday with my buddy Jarid Malone, his sister Jade and his buddy Travis. I figured four in the new Maverick was going to be a challenge to pole but the boat continues to amaze me with how easy it was. We did give up a little draft with the fourth person but I was still able to hit 36 mph! Fishing started out with a bang with Jade catching her first red that she sight casted to on the fly. She and Travis both caught their first sheepsheads on the fly. We had a blast taking turns on the casting platform and it was nice to have other people pole so I didn't have to do it myself. We ended the day with somewhere around 28 fish all caught on the fly. The biggest red and sheepshead were caught by Jade, the red going 25" and the sheepshead weighing in on the boga at 4 pounds. I want to give a special thanks to Ryan aka Montauk 17 for helping me with a pissing problem I had. He took time away from fishing to give me advice on how to clean out the pisser on my motor after we sucked up mud into the intake. He even called to make sure we were ok after they got done fishing. That is one thing I really appreciate about fishermen we look out for each other. Pictures of our trip will be posted on Jarid's website later today. I will post a link when they are up. There is also a really good article on his website about our trip to Grand Isle where we caught all those bull reds. www.maloneflyfishing.com
