Tonsils and Adnoids

My son just came out of surgery from getting his tonsil and adnoids taken out. This is a pretty simple procedure, but let me tell you.............He is NOT a happy camper right now. I just feel helpless, cuz I cant do anything to help him. These are they things nobody tells us about when having kids. I was not prepared to feel this helpless for my little man. :(

My mom is having her tonsils removed tomorrow morning.

Been there with my son although, it was tubes in his ears and adenoids. Threw up all over me when he was comin to! Not a good feeling either! LOL

I can tell you though, they bounce back quick!

Sweet man, congrats! We find out what we're having in a few weeks, hoping for a boy but as long as it's healthy I could care less what it is.

How's your little man doin today?

bay_slayer 08-17-2010 08:20 AM

probably going to be worse today than yesterday. We cant get him to swallow anything, which would make him feel better if he would. I think it hurts him so bad he is scared to swallow. Its a chore just to get him to take his medicine. But hopefully we can get him to start drinking some fluids today.

FF_T_Warren 08-17-2010 08:55 AM

Yea fluids is the key. It keeps everything soft and moist. I was lucky. I ate like 3 Popsicles in recovery and just kept eating them and drinking constantly. After day 2 or 3 I stopped taking pain meds. When I went for my one week check up the doc asked if I needed more pain meds and was amazed when I said I hadn't taken any in like 4 or 5 days. Soo moral of the story is drink lots of fluids and Popsicles and keep things loose

Dink 08-17-2010 09:23 AM

Always always always tell the "yes, I need more pain meds"
