trigger help

anybody know how to change a trigger on a rem model 700 270?

FF_T_Warren 10-07-2010 08:01 PM

yea, what exactly are you changing

aquaholic78 10-08-2010 08:57 PM

one of the guys i work with put a jewel trigger in his gun and gave me his old one. a ultra x or something. its a remington trigger just a step up from stock

FF_T_Warren 10-09-2010 01:05 PM

its simple. just knock out the pins and put the new ones in. If its the xmark trigger then the old style is actually better if you are wanting to lighten the pull weight. the xmark is smooth and crisp but if you want to work the trigger, the older ones are much better

can i lighten up the pull weight on the factory trigger? id like to have it set at about two pounds

aquaholic78 10-10-2010 03:40 PM

what i mean is do i have to bring it to a gunsmith to have it set at two pounds. i cant do that myself right?

FF_T_Warren 10-10-2010 06:15 PM

yea you can lighten it. I did mine in about 15 mins. whats your email? I'll email you a diagram on how to do it. Just gotta play with it a little to get it set at a safe weight that will hold. then repaint the screws with fingernail polish to lock them in

saintsfan78@cox.net thanks man

aquaholic78 10-10-2010 08:32 PM

thanks warren that helps a lot im gonna turn that weight of pull about one turn out and the other screw above it one turn in and try that

FF_T_Warren 10-11-2010 07:53 AM

you have to play with it because you can go too light to where it wont hold the firing pin. just get it set to where you want it and then open and close your bolt a bunch to make sure its holding good. slam the bolt a few times, hit the butt on the ground and stuff just to make sure its set safely. Once you have it where you want it, reseal the thread with the fingernail polish
