Ducks this morning

Talked to my father--n--law he hunted in his blind in gc with 2 other people. They had to hunt late, but they still managed to kill 17 and lost 2. They had 8 grey ducks, 2 pintail, 1 black mallard, and the rest teal. The 2 birds they lost were grey ducks. Man he really needs to get a dog, cause they do save the day.

Where I hunt in Pecan Island if u dont have a dog, you are going to lose half your ducks every hunt.

Hit or miss! We are seeing alot of birds, just nothing wants to come in. We get a limit one day and the next day kill half our limit. I went solo Monday and shot 2 gw teal, 1 spoonie, and 1 mallard. Should have had my limit, but I would try and let them make "one more pass" and of course they wouldn't. Saw lots of birds just couldn't get them close enough. Had about 8 mallards come right in the dekes while i was picking them up and only managed to cut one. :pissed: And of course I jumped back in the blind for another 45 minutes and shot only 1 spoon. 2 buddies went this morning and I think they only got 5 or 6. Our problem is all the teal left our place. They usually make up 3/4 of your bag each hunt.

Man we are just covered up with birds. Our water level and food is perfect. Our 2 blinds border rockefeller refuge and they come from there and just start pounding our marsh. I'm going to my goose blind in lyons point in the morning. My wifes grandpa plowed it up and put about 3 inches of water in it, and he said the specks are in there thick in the mornings.

The birds just aren't "holding" on our place.
