Rockefeller

Anyone have any reports from Rockefeller/Joseph's Harbor? I passed the landing Friday morning about 9:30 a.m. and there were six trucks/trailers there. I don't think the shrimp or crabs are running right now so I'm thinking they were fishing for specks in the waters that are still open. Any info would be appreciated as I wanted to make a trip there on Monday.

My father-n-law lives in grand chenier and we hunt across from the catholic church down the road from rocefeller. The last i heard they we're catching some specks at joesph harbor on gulp shrimp. I will give him a call for you, cause he fishes and keeps up with the refuge pretty regular.

U can always catch a few reds on Gulp! back there.

Just got off the phone with him and he said that they went this morning and didn't do good at all. He said that they're catching some big crabs in there right now at the mud hole. He lives right on the mermentau river and said that the fishing has shut down the past few days. I hope this helps, but hey go give it a shot. You don't know if you don't go right.

Thanks duckgogetter. I know that every year around this year, specks can be caught in the game warden canal so I was thinking maybe they are running. I'm surprised that the crabs are running with the water being so cold, but I'm guessing the warm spells are keeping them biting. I caught so many crabs last year (limited everytime I went) that the "spousal unit" said if I come home with any more she's going to leave me. I wonder if anyone is catching shrimp, but I'm guessing that some of the wiers are now off limits.

Nope the shrimp have shut down i asked

Haven't been to the rock since before Rita.;mainly because did real well behind Gran. In fact this past Monday and Tuesday was awesum; because noone showed up for the reopening. Red's and big blue crab's were everywhere. I understand that they will be closing Friday the 17 of this month ;for the second season of duc season .Only bird action I seen was sea buzzard's and pete the pelican. Sorry didn't mean to be so winded.

I heard the deep lake canals are holding reds. Gotta go slow at the mouth of the canals...they are very shallow but get deeper as you go to the back.
