Red fins on the fish and some yellow tint to the bodys. Was there some salinity in the water?

yeah, caught all on a watermelon seed texas rigged curly tail grub. Ruddock and manchac is the area between Lake maurapas and lake Pontchartrain south of Hammond, there is some salinity in the water a little more this time of the year.

Most of the people that I passed by claimed that they only caught one or two, most were beating the banks, If I don't catch a fish in 15-20 cast I move on or fish a different kind of structure till I start catching fish.

Nice catch. I like to fish down southpass more towards ruddock, there is some structure under the interstate as well as the cut between it and lake mareupas.

Use to fish it when I came home from college to hang with friends form SLU. At night back in early 1990's you could catch 5lb bass with broken back rapala on a cane pole after rain storm when water rushes through culverts next to old hwy 51 road. I did good this time of year flats under bridge next to ruddock launch and then pit between the bridges on the other side of road from ruddock launch. You can almost see the road and canal you come out on from the launch. The the stumps at Manchac bass when the amite and tickfaw use to flood alot it would put muddy water in manchac. At the mouth by the bridge use to be stumps and alot of gravel. The water coming out of ruddock canals was clear and use to make a good clear/muddy water break line in this stumpy area. Slammed a limit of nice 2lb to 4lb bass. Hasn't rained like that in years to muddy up Manchac like back then.
