Inline Spinners for Reds

2 Attachment(s)
I am new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone fishes with in line spinner for reds/trout.

I make my own and very much enjoy catchin fish on what I make. I owned a tackle shop for 12 years in Texas before moving back to Louisiana and made them there. Sold them in my store and lots of people had success with them. I make several other fishing lures and some unique ones as well.

Here is a pic of one of my best ones.

Opinions and criticisms are welcome.

Thanks,
Keith

My dad throws them for reds and has alot of success...

Pretty sweet ones u got there.

Me and specksndasurf used to work offshore and would make our own (barbless) hooks out of welding rods...I find the catch much more rewarding when u fashion the tackle yourself....welcome to the site!

Inline spinners work great when you want the action and shine right above grass beds. I throw them during the summer when the grass gets thick

I am currently making some for bass and have had some great results even though its been colder. I am surprised that the bass have hit them in the colder water this time of year.

I make a poppin cork for the coast and sell them in a few stores. I may post about them soon. It is the loudest popping cork you will ever use. Sergio Nyola, maker of tidal surge lures came up with a slogan for them a couple years back, he said "Its so loud, fish come from other bays!!"

Keith......I started making some "in-line" spinners a while back when I could not find what I was looking for in the local stores.

Them baits can really catch some Reds.

I love In-Line spinners, but prefer them to be a little smaller than you have there and with as short of a wire as you can make with a collar not beads. I like 3 1/2 inch size.

I make some much smaller than these. I also make some and combine them with swim baits. I normally use a #4 Olympic blade, but the one above has a #5 blade. I make a lure I call it a Salt Shaker also with a swim bait, kinda like a boogie bait or blade dancer. Catch alot of fish with em.

In the winter when the bait is more scarce, Reds will hit on your prop if the boat sits still long enough.

Ive seen em like that.

I am from Louisiana but didnt fish saltwater here til I was in my 30s. Went with a friend out of Cypremore Point and they were using dead shrimp on a jig head. I rarely fish with bait, live or dead, so I put on one of my Red Alert spinners and the first cast I caught a nice red bout 4lbs. I stood in the middle of the boat and caught 12 fish before any of the others in the boat caught one. Had a good day that day and I knew I was on to something. That was 12 years ago and I very much enjoy catchin fish on the lures I make.
Thanks for the input gents!
