Leeville

Heading to Leeville next Sat Sun Mon and Tue. Have a camping spot all reserved. However, I have heard that the Gnats are BAD down there right now. Any recommendations to keep them off? I have used bug spray in the past with no luck does anything keep them away? If not I might have to rethink where we are going. :help:

Regular bug spray wont work. Get you some avon skin so soft or victoria secret amber romance spray.

Any spray with deet. You could also treat your clothes with permethrin.

Mouthwash and water in a spray bottle works the best....in hopedale they bad and I try everything but nothing really works but mouthwash in a spray bottle with water works pretty damn good

Deet don't affect those gnats.

Amber romance spray is the only thing that will work

Therma-cell

I have heard about this Amber Romance before. Going to give that a try. What kind of Mouthwash? What sort of mixture? I have tried every type of bug spray including those with DEET and none of them seem to work. I will also give my Thema-cell a try. Man do I hate those biting little Bastids! When do they go away? I know they are not a year round thing because I don't remember them ever being as bad as they have been this year.

Listerine is wat I used cause it's strongest mix it about 70/30 in a spray bottle with water and spray it on you...it works verry well..I don't know about amber romance.....but they come out on these warmer days in between cold ones during the winter/spring then summertime comes and they're always around just not as bad...

Amber romance works... Even the girls that work at victoria secret know it, one time i was in there buying a bottle and the girl said, "you must be going fishing huh?" I just laughed and said yep

california baby insect spray. Its sold at Target.

Cactus Juice is one product that some people use.....that they say works fairly good.

Fabric softeners sheets are another thing I have heard that helps keep them away.

I have no experience.......I have only been bothered by nats on one or 2 trips on Big Lake.

Cactus juice works, but doesnt last long. We used to stock it at the plant i work at.

bluewing 02-28-2011 08:55 PM

fishinpox 02-28-2011 10:07 PM

Bens, vc amber romance. Be careful though my ex wife would smell that vs spray on me fish on my fingers and glitter from a crankbait on my collar!!! She thought I was going to the tit jernt not fishing

skinman 02-28-2011 10:14 PM

Swisher Sweets cigars. I get a few packs and puff on them every now and then while fishing. I don't smoke, but it sure helps keep them freakin gnats away.

I've tried Cactus Juice, Jungle Magic, SOS and Ben's 100. Nothing worked like Amber Romance.
