Skeeter Bay vs. Champion Bay
Any opinions of the better rig, with both units being 24'?

Skeeter....champion is out of business

Both are good boats, for the lake and march I would personally prefer the Skeeter, if it were a boat used only for the lake and also offshore I would prefer the Champion. Just my personal opinion. |
Rev. Redfish can give you some insight

......neither!

I have a 2000 model 22ft Champion. It's been a great boat and I have never had any problems with it.
The boat has a very dry ride and does excellent in rough water because it's such a heavy boat. I can't speak for a Skeeter but they look like a nice boat also. |
Why and what would you recommend?

In fact.....check out my thread history.....your looking for one titled "new player in the bay boat world"

i know the skeeter bays are real wide and have tall sides so its nice... but because of the shallow V on the bottom of the hull, as most skeeters, they are terrible about getting real wet real quick when running in rough water. i don't know anything about champions but i know that about skeeters

i've never fished the skeeter bay but i've fished out of a friends champion bay a few times. very comfortable ride. He brought it to a tourney we had to fish at sam rayburn in bad weather.. it sliced thru whitecaps that were big as sheep! we stayed pretty dry in conditions that normally, i'm sure i'd have been soaked in. i was very impressed.

I have a Trition 220lts and love it. It is the perfect boat for the way you are planning to use it.

The Champion rides much better than the Skeeter.
The Triton rides a little better than the Champion. |
