Grand Isle

What month do the trout show up to beach? I've caught well in May but I was wondering if April is too early.

I have had the best surf fishing trip of my life in GI in late April. (160 trout in an afternoon and next morning) Let us know how you do if you go.

W/the warm weather the trout may be in the surf in april. But don't pass up wading the bay side of the island in april for sure.

late march early april this year with the warm weather,

the high river may change that some though

Hard South winds sometimes screws that up.

RaginCagin 03-14-2011 02:50 PM

they show up in April but I always do the best in June.

Save some frustration and go in May. April is always hit and miss in the surf there w/ more misses. The warm weather is definitely the key, but you know you'll probably have one of those rogue cold fronts come through and screw everything up. I've been there in late May and that's happened before. The shrimp will be moving into the passes soon and the trout will follow. My best luck has been w/ small topwaters, DOA, Gulp, Sparkle beetles (any shrimp looking baits) and live shrimp that time of year. Oughta be on down there this spring and summer. I'll have to come down and show some certain people how to fish there!! (Fish catchin MoFo!!!)

Good places to try. Try the Rocks in the Pass also. Watch the high waves though.
