Biglake Tuesday morning

Looks like a 5-10 ESE wind. I wanna throw some topwater for a hog. Where would be a good area to try? Only fished the lake 3 times, dont get down there much so I would like to have a good gameplan! Thanks for any advice.:help:

The best advice I can give you is fish w/ a partner that's willing to throw for one fish ALL day long. Find some clean water w/ bait in it...stay to TW baits and suspend baits. You guys work as a team...fan cast (never throw in the same direction if your not on fish). And most of all slow down and be silent and don't rush through an area you know or think holds big fish! Big fish didn't get big by being dumb...you nick oysters w/ de trolling motor and find another spot!! And last but not least you HAVE to have tide moving...so check your tides that day and plan accordingly.:D

:) Thanks for some of the advice.... I would rather not catch a fish than to run up on someone fishing a spot! although the 3 times Ive fished the Lake, Ive noticed others didnt mind hahaha Clean, moving water with bait sounds like a game plan. Ill probably put in at Heberts and work the southeast bank, that sound like a good idea?

Well that 5-10 ESE wind turned out to be a 15-20 north wind, Southern half was pretty stained, threw top water some but no luck, went to Turners and founds some birds and got a limit, will try and post pics later, Im wore out! Fishing aint easy by yourself. :)

not bad were the birds eating shrimp?

donniej 03-29-2011 09:00 PM

yes, they were jumping everywhere. Trout were all over turners when the sun came out,

Good stuff man glad you got on some fish!

Hi Donniej, nice meeting you at the launch. We had Hebert's to ourselves.
I caught one nice trout on topwater, plenty of clear water and lots of mullet on the East bank but the trout weren't cooperating, that's topwater fishing sometimes. Great day to be on the lake. Reds and flounder would not eat gulp. Caught some live cocahoes and it was game on. Limit of reds with lots of throwbacks and four flounder before I ran out of livies and gnats drove me crazy.
