Bedding fish techniques?

 Let's see if I can kick up the dust alittle. I have never really had any experience catching fish while on their beds. I was raised fishing the Calcasieu river. I would like people to participate and share your favorite ideas, techniques, colors and lure choices for getting those sows to bite. Looking forward to your responses!:p

Bounce a lizard on the nest til the fish gets mad enough to hit ut

IMO

First catch the male, he will usually hit anything....then chunk his a$$ as far as you can.

Now the female, she will not typically act like the male. She will continuously make circles, checking the bed every minute or so. When she does come by make sure you have something bright laying on the nest, usually I use bright lizards or flukes. In the marsh I like to get far enough away from the bed to where I can barely see my bright lure. Being that most females usually pick it up and blow it off the nest, it is best to set the hook when that bright lure disappears.

???? We catch on the beds all the time in the river...Granted i live on the river, but we did good this spawn on the beds.. Fun watching them move the bait off the bed til you stick em...

In all reality, i hit them with my tube jig til it pisses them off.

I catch em year long on a zoom fat albert grub, between watermelon and junebug i've bought at least 20 packs since January and I usually catch a few fish on a grub before there's not much left to it. I've found that it catches small and big fish and it has helped me catch fish in tournaments in the pearl river, in the spillway and in the oxbow lakes that I have fished.

throw a jig on the bed and hit the fish if they do not want to bite. hit 2 or 3 times and throw back with a worm, and it dont take long.

a watermelon lizard does pretty good but you really have to fish it slow and agrrevate them plus you have to be pretty quick on the bite and keep tension on the line the male will usually come up and bite it and spit it out real quick to get it away from the bed so if you use jigs be sure to use a trailer hook
