I had a huge jack cravelle hooked last summer, massive, like state record size. Found it for 30 min on film w/ light tackle, crazy fun!!
Finally get fish to surface , one buddy grabs tail to lift it, to big, so other buddy gets gaff..... He hits the fish in the mouth with the gaff and pops the line........ We have full view of the size of this fish for about 5 sec as if floated in surface......... Man I was pissed!!

True here and other parts of the world where fishing is regulated...but in Hawaii there are no regulations as fish are the #1 part of the diet. Marlin are sold when brought in .....its a way for the captains to make xtra money! They make jerky, poke', and the nicer restaurants light sear it w/ a reduction sauce drizzled over it! I had white marlin while in Hawaii and it was delish!...but the jerky is a bit odd.

The locals eat everything from parrot fish to marlin! :D
