Without ANY motorized assistance...

calcutta37 04-14-2011 04:05 PM

u gonna need assistance for long point unless u wanna paddlefor a long time. But i think there is a landing off the hwy 27 that you can put a yak in to get to west cove.

As if paddling isn't enough.

West Cove boat launch is south of Hackberry, just past Hog Island Gully, launch will take you straight into West Cove. Just don't try to paddle against a strong incoming/outgoing tide.

It gets shallow or the tide rips?

Micah 04-14-2011 04:37 PM

Tides rip through there, you can paddle as hard as you can and stay in one spot.

But your ride back will be quick!!

If your crazy you can paddle out dugas; drag across the ship channel spoil bank across from the south end of joes cove. It will suck but may save you some time. bring a machete lol
