Prien Lake 4-14 /Big Lake 4-16

Fished Prien Lake thursday night out of my grandpas kayak (2nd time ever) and strung up 10 trout and 1 22' red. I stuck about 25 trout only got my hands on 10 due to that dang kayak. About flipped the thing over ever time I got a trout within hands reach. Turned out good but it sure was a new challenge... Fished Big Lake on Friday and struck out due to the gale force winds. Decided to stay and make a wade with Bruce on Sunday and ended up catching a few reds and a big trout down south in 2 1/2 ft water water on hard mud/scattered shell. Was getting blown out of the water on top in 2ft rollers but no takers other than reds. Switched over to a pearl floater and it was on! Extremely tough conditions all week but grinding it out sure did pay off :)

The ramp right nest to the interstate has alot of yakers launching there. We fished Calcasieu and Prien Saturday. Calcasieu was howling! Got into Prien and picked up some reds a flounder and ONE trout:( Couldn't set the hook to save my life. Went down the ship channel and there were some HUGE boats anchored down and people were on the little 'beaches' having a good time. That water in the channel was beautiful but it just does not seem right to me to be saltwater fishing and fish around laying down pine trees in the water! It reminds me alot of the Oua****a River and how we catch sacaulait up there Good catch though

My grandpa lives on the lake, so I put in off his pier. I would launch at the country club. All the lights I fished are on that side of the lake. The green lights had more trout for some reason...
