Louisiana Saltwater Series
*****LOUISIANA SALTWATER SERIES*****
ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER ONLINE!!!! Calcasieu Point Landing in Lake Charles April 30th. The grassroots-based tournament provides anglers with the opportunity to give back to the resource. Contestants vie for cash prizes and test their skill while enjoying the thrill of the competitive sport. Each series includes two-man teams with a $200 entry fee for each event. For teams consisting of three members, only two of the members may be 16 or older. The tournament is a 100 percent payout series. This year, a youth division was established to introduce young anglers to the sport of fishing, and to teach the catch-and-release approach to conservation. Participants under 16 years of age will compete against one another in a separate category for trophy catch; all youth anglers will be recognized. There is a 90 percent payout for the first six events with 10 percent retained for the championship. Payout is determined separately for each event based upon the total number of boats entered. For complete information, including rules, regulations and entry forms go to www.laSALTWATERseries.com. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is charged with managing and protecting Louisiana's abundant natural resources. I believe so, right over 8 pounds I think. A lot better than most I'll add though, it was tough. 1st few hours fishing was in a steady drizzle, I think the sun only shined about 5 total minutes today. Dirty water everywhere, and most of the fish we caught were either 12-17 or 30
Me and some friends fished today. Tuff out there. We managed five flounder. On another note I had my first person fall out of my boat today. I laughed so hard I almost cried. Btw he is not a little guy either.
We caught 20 red fish give or take a few today. Only 5 were between 16-27. Caught 7 flounder also. Found decent water around 10am with 18" of clarity and we caught 80% of our fish on 1 protected shoreline that we drifted over and over Fishing slowed after lunch, caught very few in the last 3 hours of fishing time. Mind you my partner nor myself have ever been to big lake a day in our lives before. We went in completely blind this morning. Picked a spot of the map and beat the banks. Not a bad day for a 1st ever trip
The reds are easy to find in bl...like you said pick a wind protected bank and you will run into them eventually.
