Dang man, the giant is snoring right now. Was just out there a few days ago and it's back down inside the banks at this point.

Just got in from the camp in Miss a little while ago, went & emptied the refrig, they are suppose to pull the plug on the elec when the river hits 52' at Natchez....... Highest I've ever seen it there was about 57' they are expecting it to hit 60-61' at Natchez! My camp is in the clear being on the side of a big ridge, pulled up & my camp yard looked like a boat lot! Everyone was pulling their boats up to my place. My dads camp sits down the hill from mine & 60' will put it on his porch.

This thing could get bad.........Hope the levees hold......Baton Rouge & down the river should be really nervous about this.

N'Awlins is protected to 20'. The river is expected to reach 17.5 at the Carrolton gauge.

The gubmint has evacuated the town of cairo illinois and is preparing to blow the levee there. All that stands in their way is the US supreme court. When ya think it will go boom?

The government will do everything in it's power to not let New Orleans flood again, whether that means letting other cities flood or not. I've heard that they're fixing to open up the Morganza spillway, anyone else hear this? It hasn't been opened since the 70's.

They better look at every option they can, predicting 60' at Natchez, ol man that lives at the camp showed me 58' water mark.....you couldn't imagine! I looked at him & said NO WAY! UNBELIEVABLE!

Opening the Morganza spillway is the last resort. It will get alot worse before this happens.

Bonnet carre they will open. Morganza only as a last resort. It would have to be a risk of emmenent levee failure

They should be opening the flood gates NOW to get rid of as much water as possible. This MIGHT keep the water level a little bit lower when the crest gets down to Louisiana.

If I remember correctly..... normally 1/3 of the Mississippi river water is allowed to flow into the Atchafalaya river. Maybe that amount could be inceased now and the Morganza flood way would not have to be opened. All water from both of these places goes south to Morgan City....... and if too much water is sent that way, it could/would flood the city.

This almost happened back in '73 when the Morganza flood way was opened. Most or all [I don't remember] of the gates were closed after several days when they realized Morgan city was about to be flooded because there was just too much water doing down the Atchafalaya Basin.

Ive always agreed with this. I dont know why they dont do it in advance. Bonnet Carre should be open by now imo

they can only divert so much water down the atchafalaya. it was at 7' a couple years ago and was only feet from the top of the levee... i couldnt imagine it at 10' like it was in 1973.

Do yall think opening Morganza is a mistake? it has always been my opinion that opening it again would be a huge mistake with the river wanting to go down the atchafalaya.

The morganza spillway has been opened since the 70's. Don't remember the exact year but it was in the 90's sometime.

They need to reupdate them. It wasn't fully opened but it was partially opened. Enough to flood everything. And make la 1 look like a island.

Stages have been updated....Baton Rouge is now predicted at 47.5' on May 21. Natchez is now updated to 65'. Yesterday Natchez was suppose to crest at 60'. Levee at BR is 48'

Going to be cutting it to close at 47.5'. they will be evacuating angola b4 then . bring em down here to fill sand bags.
