Tough day at the island south winds and dirty water everywhere caught around bird island early, then moved to four bayou...nothing. hit the beach caught 1 or two but the only place there was clean water was stacked up with people swimming and wading hit a few more spots ended the day with 15. Threw backa a few and some of them were probably close to 12" but I didnt put a measuring device of any kind in the new boat:redface:. Had a great time with a couple of friends. Fish were caught on glow/chart chubs, glow dudley mauler shrimp, and live skrimp. Fishes stomachs were jam packed with skrimp

How are you getting to Bird Island from Grand Isle? Do you go outside then cut back across through Fouchon? Or do you run all the way around outside? I usually put in in Leeville and go across Little Lake into Bay Raccoui. Looks like a good day and I am glad to hear you are enjoying the new boat.

Nice fish bob, glad to see you got some slime in the new to you boat! Way to go

Good mess of fish there. Wind is tough and heard it was off color water. Headed there next week for some snaps - need the wind to lay though.
Anyhow, since he ran to 4 Bayou, then I would guess the Bird Island mentioned is Queen Bess Island - some people use either reference. |
Thanks Skeeter. The Bird Island I know is the southern part of Castette. I don't often fish the West side.

there is no other feeling in the world like being in 5,000 feet of water with nothing but a speargun and a dive knife....if you do get to do it...your first time will be the most eary (sp) feeling youve ever felt....then you shoot a fish or two and it turns into an obsession. |
Nice box of fish.

Not bad Meaux in these winds! At least you getting to slim up the new rig. I been sitting at home with a crying baby for the last 5 weeks
|
