After nearly 3 months being off the water due to wind and travel, Sweetie (my wife) and I were able to make a day. Started in the North end of Turner's catching a few big ones on a cream colored spook. Sweetie was throwing some of Ms. Elaine's livest Swimps under a H&H Popping Cork, 20# Mono leader, 1/8 oz. jig head, hooked through the body (enough detail for ya?).
Watched the flotilla at the other end of Turner's chase birds, the bite slowed so we headed to Joe's Cove. Camped on slick and caught the rest. Topwater bite stopped around 9:30. Kept the Sheephead cause I like 'em grilled. Got hot around 11 but just made the beer taste that much colder. Ended up with 10 specs, 5 white trout and that Sheephead. Managed to avoid the crowd. I'm convinced these days you ain't gotta chase birds to catch trout.
Here's some pics of the blackened trout as I write this. Ray's recipe: Butter flavored Pam and Paul Prudhomme's seasoning; nothing else needed.
All in all great day on the water.
