I have the food saver brand... The only time I wished I had a bigger better one is when me, montauk, and dink had to do a couple hundred lbs of tuna steaks in one day

Sounds like you need a taller cleaning table. What did you do, buy the "W" size by mistake? :rotfl:

There is a commercial grade vacum sealer available from cabellas that is good if
you are going to use it heavily. A food saver model V3420 from wally word is all you need for every day use. Food saver .com runs some great sales on rolls and bags if you buy in bulk

How good of sales do they have? How much do you have to buy?

At the price they charge for the bags..... they should give away the vaccuum machines.

For the 8" roll @ about $ 11.00 each that equals about 40 cents per bag.

And don't think you are saving a little money when you buy the 2 pack. The 2 pack boxes have a 20 foot rolls and the single box is 22 feet.

It differs from sale to sale but usually save 30% at least . There are generic rolls available on the internet but i have not tried them yet.

Don't short yourself on a cheap one. No need to break the bank but you get what you pay for (much like at the strip club). They are great, I use it for ducks and deer also

I use them on all offshore fish and ducks.

Any of you noticed that it makes reds and trout strong?

I got the food saver 3400 (wet/dry) $140 from wally world. my problem is i cant repeatedly seal bags . the ***** seal/stop light keeps flashing and you have to keep trying different times to get it to work. not sure if overheating or not. mite be able to do 1 seal every 5 to 10 minutes. waaay too long. any ideas.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-11-2011 09:02 AM

I would never freeze tuna or wahoo in water

Sometimes you can push and hold down the lid really tight and push the seal button and it will override that. Had to do that for my old one. I still have that old one, but use it for small jobs, get a bigger and better one, they are not as expensive as they once were. ;)

When mine refuses to seal, i usually have to clean the upper and lower sealing bar w/ a damp rag. MAKE SURE! and unplug the unit first!
