my 5 year wedding anniversary

My 5 year wedding anniversary is approaching the first week of August. I want to take my wife on a vacation and need your suggestions. We don't want to do the beach thing since it is august and hot and hurricane season is approaching its prime. We got married in Lake Tahoe so I thought about going there again or to Breckenridge, CO or perhaps the NE like Maine, etc. She has no passport so Canada is out.

Any suggestions???

TIA

Tahoe sounds nice since it's where you got married. She would probably appreciate it and the thought. I had to laugh, though, because my husband and I just celebrated our 29th this past Sunday. He asked what I wanted to do and of course I said fishing - Saturday and Sunday!! It was great. We toasted each other Sunday in the boat between catching fish!! Your wife will appreciate the thought you're putting into it.

Go trout fish the white river in Flippin Arkansas. Very beautiful country and lots to do. Fished there for 5 days and stayed at Gaston's. Good food, good accomadations, nice restaurant and only a 12 HOUR DRIVE IN A FREAKING TRUCK:pissed:. Anyway, lots of fish if she fishes. Also nice weather that time of year.

Cruise out of N.O. or Galveston. 4-5-7 day options available.

ScubaLatt 06-16-2011 08:30 PM

all sound great (except for the cruise --she absolutely refuses to step aboard one of them ships). And it is hot in the caribbean and the threat of storms that time of year. Never been to gatlynburg or arkansas.

Keep 'em coming!

Gatlinburg, TN is very pretty and also dont know what yall enjoy doing but Branson, MO is realy alot of fun with alot to do includin live shows, fishin the mother of all Bass Pro Shops aint far and alot of other things. If you go to Branson you can stay for real cheap ad get nice rooms or you can stay at The Big Cedar Lodge which looks awsome

She can get a passport in plenty of time before August.

Boston is a cool place! If she likes the outdoors, Arkansas is hard to beat! Just load a tent and go get lost......or do the same in northern Cali

When did they start to require a passport for Canada? I thought it was still open border.

Ok, Guys. Decided to go to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and take in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Gonna do some white water rafting and sightseeing while up there. Anyone ever been and have any pointers?

TIA

Went a few years back. Jackson Hole is EXPENSIVE:eek:, recommend staying in Montana if you can. Yellowstone is cool to visit at least one or two days. The tourists are ridiculous though. You don't need much of a camera to take some awesome pics, most the animals are right up on you. Grand Tetons have much less tourists and the scenery is superb. You can fish any of those rivers and catch plenty of fish. The Gallatin (sp.?) River is really cool and full of fish, its where A River Runs Thru it was filmed. Wife and I fished it and I caught a ton of rainbows on dry flies, but they were small. Dug up some nightcrawlers and tied a little weight on my wifes flyrod and she caught some huge cutthroats and rainbows.

You can just drive all day and have a blast. Right at dusk there are tons of alfalfa fields and the mule deer, whitetails and elk will be out there in the HUNDREDS - its crazy! Don't spend too much time looking at tourist traps like Old Faithful and that stuff, and if you have time get on up to Glacier National Park, its incredible. Plenty of stuff to do up there, definitely go rafting one day, its a blast, horseback riding if you are into that, if you fish, you don't need a guide - the fish are fairly easy to catch. Man, now I wanna go back:grinpimp:
