it's official...I'm buying a lifetime license

Just bought my new basic fish, saltwater, basic hunt, big game, federal duck stamp, bow license and got my deer tags for this year to get it done all at once....grand total......$75.50. So lucky me, I'm buying myself my lifetime hunting and fishing license for x-mas for myself.

Yes its worth it .I have had one since 1994 , you do the math on that . You still have to buy a federal duck stamp ,but that aint nothin compared to what you would normally spend .

Tete Dur 06-30-2011 03:58 PM

yep...it'll pay for itself in about 7 years. definitely worth it!

elebouef 06-30-2011 04:09 PM

And just think I finally reached, where I only pay $5.00

I need all that plus WMA stamp, primitive weapons and turkey. Mine paid for itself in about 5 years.

LOL, it's nice to not have any of that to worry about anymore. I just have to pick up a federal stamp and I am done!

R-T-GO 06-30-2011 04:23 PM

and if you have kids, its only $200 for hunt/fish until they are 4.

jchief 06-30-2011 05:07 PM

I did the same thing, my oldest boy is 3 and my youngest boy is 1. They don't know what it means yet but they will be thanking me in about 20 years. :D

I waited about 5 years after they started the program. That was 5 years too long.
Brother in laws brother useta be Secretary of LDWF. He said the lifetime license was killing them. Lack of revenue. Most license revenue was made off of out of state licenses.
Glad I got mine when I did.

LPfishnTIM 06-30-2011 07:29 PM

that wma permit is a load of crap, why do we have to pay extra to hunt state land, that should be in the license cost!

PReaux 06-30-2011 07:33 PM

I just paid $93 for a Non-Resident fishing license with saltwater endorsement . . . I don't imagine they have a Non-resident, lifetime license . . I probably couldn't afford it . . LOL . . . don't gripe about us Texans fishing over there . . . LOL

Well, if there was a little extra added to the cost of license to include hunting on a WMA......... how do you think all the hunters that only hunt on private or leased land would feel?

I am glad to pay the $ 15 and for the most part.....think it is well spent to keep up the WMA.

Now....... if we could only teach all the hunts that it is NOT OK....to leave trash in the campgrounds and along the roads.

That cost goes for everyone that uses the WMA. Some folks don't hunt. Some folks camp, bird watch, pick berries, ride horses..............etc. And as Gerald pointed out, pretty damn cheap for thousands upon thousands of acres of hunting land.

evidrine 07-01-2011 08:24 AM

Probably going to get them for my two boys for x-mas this year. They are both under 4yrs so it will be fairly cheap. When I turned 15 I bought the lifetime hunting withought the fishing. Man, I regret that. I didnt fish too much back then but with I would have got it anyway.

I got mine about 9 years ago. Sometimes when they check me when duck hunting, they give me crap about not having done my "HIP". That is just the ones trying to be a-holes. They say if you have lifetime license, you still have to do HIP. They usually just give me a warning. I might do one this year just to have it all done.
